Effective date: June 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the IT Compass app handles user data.
1. Summary
IT Compass helps users explore possible IT career paths based on their answers to a set of questions. We aim to process only the data needed to run the app, improve quality, diagnose issues, and, if enabled in the app version, show ads.
2. Data the app may process
Data provided by the user
The app may process:
- quiz answers;
- intermediate results;
- final recommendations;
- selected language;
- app settings;
- saved progress.
In the basic app flow, this data is used to calculate results and may be stored locally on the device.
Technical data
For app stability, analytics, diagnostics, and advertising, the app or integrated SDKs may process:
- device type, model, operating system, and app version;
- device language and regional settings;
- app usage information, such as screen views, quiz progress, and interface events;
- crash logs, diagnostics, and performance data;
- IP address;
- device advertising identifier, such as IDFA on iOS or Advertising ID on Android, if available and allowed by device settings;
- approximate location derived from the IP address, if used by third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
IT Compass does not request precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, calendar, SMS, call log, or health data unless this is clearly disclosed in a separate in-app notice.
3. How data is used
Data may be used to:
- run the quiz and calculate matching IT professions;
- save progress and settings;
- improve questions, results, and user interface;
- detect and fix bugs;
- analyze app stability and performance;
- protect against abuse and technical failures;
- show ads, cap ad frequency, measure ad performance, and prevent ad fraud, if ads are enabled in the app;
- respond to user support requests.
4. Third-party services
The app may use third-party SDKs and services that help display ads, collect privacy-conscious analytics, and diagnose crashes. Depending on the app version, these may include:
- Appodeal and Appodeal advertising partners;
- Google Play services;
- Firebase Analytics;
- Firebase Crashlytics;
- Apple system services.
These services may process technical data, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, app usage information, crash logs, and data needed to deliver and measure ads.
5. Sharing data with third parties
We do not sell users’ quiz answers.
Data may be shared with:
- analytics, advertising, crash reporting, and infrastructure providers;
- Apple and Google platforms, when needed to operate and distribute the app through their stores;
- public authorities, if required by law;
- other parties, if the user gives explicit consent.
6. Advertising and user choices
If ads are enabled in the app, advertising partners may use the advertising identifier, IP address, device information, and app usage data to deliver ads, cap frequency, measure ads, and prevent ad fraud.
Users can limit ad personalization in device settings:
- iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, and Apple Advertising settings;
- Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads or Google > Ads, depending on the system version.
Turning off ad personalization may not remove ads entirely, but it can make them less personalized.
7. Data retention
Local data, such as progress, answers, and results, may remain on the device until the app is deleted or app data is cleared.
Technical data, analytics events, and crash logs are retained by third-party services according to their own retention periods and settings. We aim not to keep data longer than necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.
8. Data deletion
Users can delete local data by:
- uninstalling the app;
- clearing app data in device settings, where available;
- using an in-app progress reset feature, if implemented.
9. Children
The app is not directed at children specifically, but it may be configured by a parent, guardian, school, or organization for simplified access to selected websites. The app itself does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
11. International data transfers
Third-party services used by the app may process data on servers in different countries. In such cases, processing is governed by those services’ policies and applicable data protection laws.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. The updated version will be posted at [https://xenonquasar.com/?page_id=30062] with a new effective date.
